Short Description

The end-stage renal disease (ESRD) population is constantly growing. Recent development in the field of renal replacement therapy requires permanent education. Understanding the specific issues as renal anemia, renal bone disease and other metabolic abnormalities associated with chronic kidney disease are crucial for the early treatment. These issues will be emphasized and discussed in the first part – Update in Clinical Nephrology. Various dialysis treatment modalities, importance of achieving patient's dry weight, anticoagulation issues and reducing the cardiovascular risk factors will be discussed in the second part – Update in Dialysis. Finally the choice of kidney transplantation and potential hazard in the early and later posttransplant period will be discussed in the third part – Update in Kidney Transplantation. The importance of the quality of life in the ESRD population will also be addressed.
This ERA-EDTA CME Course is a part of the 4th Croatian Symposium on Renal Replacement Therapy and Transplantation Medicine, DiaTransplant 2009. During the rest of the meeting, various fields of the ESRD patients care will be presented and discussed.
The ERA-EDTA CME Course and DiaTransplant 2009 are dedicated to the nephrologists from Central, Eastern and Southeastern European countries. Distinguished international and domestic speakers will cover major topics. Very important part of the DiaTransplant 2009 will be dedicated to the renal nurses and medical students with special interest in the field of nephrology.
