This is a large cohort study with participants identified from a laboratory registry that includes eGFR from creatinine and proteinuria measurements from Alberta, Canada, between 2002 and 2007. 920 985 adults were included in the primary analysis of participants who had both creatinine and urine dipstick measurements. The main finding was that risks of mortality, myocardial infarction, and progression to kidney failure associated with a given level of eGFR were independently increased in patients with higher levels of proteinuria. |
