Inserm : 23 research Units mainly involved in Nephrology. Twenty other departments involved in renal and urogenital diseases.

(data collected in May 2003)

see web site for more details and locations.

Directory in preparation on the site of the Societé de Néphrologie

CNRS : 7 research units, 2 of which beeing especially involved in Nephrology

see reference for more details and locations.

Numerous nephrologic and universitary staffs participate to the activity of other INSERM, CNRS, Division de la recherche et des études doctorales ( DRED ) teams. Some nephrologic staffs have signed contracts of basic or clinical research with the industry. In Paris, universitary nephrologistsare more implicated in research than in the other parts of France, where many nephrologists find difficult to go beyond the border separating "fundamentalists" from "clinicians" (ref).

In addition to the projects of each unit, some protocols and trials are shared at national and international levels.

- Protocole WEGENT (Groupe français d’étude des vascularites)

- Protocole IGANCA (Groupe français d’étude des vascularites)
