In the present study, treatment with high doses of folic acid and B vitamins did not improve survival or reduce the incidence of vascular disease in patients with advanced chronic kidney disease or end-stage renal disease. After 4D Study, and Fosidial Study, this is an additional negative interventional study in CKD patients. Whether the negative results are related to an adequate number of recoded events or insufficient duration of treatment, or a true failure of treatment to reduce vascular risk due to an atypical vascular disease and/or different risk factors remains to be defined. |
