Short Description

The Interventional Nephrology practical course will be held in September 29-30 in

Wroclaw, Poland.

Activities during the course (lectures, practical "hands on" workshop) are intended

for colleagues who are in training and/or are young nephrologists (under 40 years of

age).

The scientific program has been meticulously prepared focusing on current problems

in the field of hemodialysis and kidney biopsy. Particular thought and attention has

been paid to vascular access creation, monitoring and complications management.

Issues concerning central catheter insertion and management will be discussed.

Technical considerations, indications and contraindications to kidney biopsy are

another topics of the course. Transvenous (transjugular or transfemoral) kidney

biopsy in a patient with a bleeding disorders will be presented.

The 2 -days course will contain theoretical and practical part. Beside mini lectures we

plan special session of participants' case presentations (5-8 most interesting cases

previously submitted to organizing committee) with following quiz and discussion.

Practical Training Programme during course consists of following points:

I.Practical workshop on catheter placement “hands on” – exercises on phantoms.

II. Sonography with duplex Doppler of the native/transplanted kidneys.

III.Physical examination of native vascular access.

IV.Duplex Doppler for vascular mapping (preop) and fistula assessment

(unmatureted vs maturated fistulas)

Practical Training Program will be provided for limited number of participants

(app.30-40) to keep quality of practical education.

International invited speakers and instructors are experts in the field with proven

teaching skills.

The topics of CME courses organized by YNP are based on the results of our previous

online survey completed by ERA-EDTA young members. Problems of vascular access

and interventions are ranked in a high position of urgent issues.
