Short Description
The courses are targeted to young nephrologists interested in upscaling their capabilities in all-day renal care. The ultrasound course focuses specifically on daily dialysis diagnostics techniques such as mapping before fistula creation and measurements at existing dialysis access. A unit of problem-based learning (PBL) was set-up following a clinical case of membranous nephropathy. All issues comprising clinical diagnosis and management, obtaining a tissue biopsy specimen for histology, interpreting histology and particular treatment options are included in this unit. Our well known biopsy course with practical exercises was integrated into this unit. Basic ultrasound praxis is needed. Every participant will have the opportunity of doing renal biopsy both in simulation on volunteers as well as in real practice on bodies in the Anatomical Theatre with particular preparation.
The whole complex is well suited for those preparing for Board Examination in Nephrology and wish to extend their prac-tical skills as well.
There are two courses both conducted in English and German. Conductance of either language course is subjected to the number of incoming applications. The subsequent congress program on Saturday is conducted in German (see www.sanktgeorg.de/sfn.html).
