Short Description
Recently, the researchers recommended development of chronic kidney disease (CKD) a coronary heart disease risk equivalent after their results showed the increased risk of myocardial infarction.
The aim of this one-day ERA-EDTA CME course, which will follow the 12th National Congress of the Albanian Society of Nephrology, is to emphasize the fact that chronic kidney disease could be considered as a heart disease risk equivalent, on following topics: 1- the importance of primary prevention, particularly because patients with chronic kidney disease comprise a large proportion of the patients with myocardial infarction; 2- the data of the high rates cardiovascular (CV) events in patients with CKD; 3- making the efforts to control cardiovascular (CV) risk factors in patients with CKD; 4- to put CKD to the list of criteria when defining those at high risk of future coronary events.
The course is targeted to junior nephrologists, moderately advanced, internists and researchers.
The course will be accompanied by the “Meet the expert” session to allow the participants to exchange knowledge in clinical practice with European leading nephrologists and interactive case-report session.
