Short Description
At least 10% of adults and nearly all children who receive RRT have an inherited kidney disease. These patients can remain alive for many years because of advances in RRT, however, these disorders substantially decrease their quality of life and have a large effect on health-care systems. In the last years, there was a significant progress in the understanding of the pathogenesis, molecular genetics and cell biology of inherited kidney diseases.
The aim of this one-day ERA-EDTA CME course, which will be the traditional 15th Prague Postgraduate Training Course organized by the Czech Society of Nephrology, is to review the nature of rare inherited kidney diseases, the challenges they pose, and opportunities from technological advances, which are well suited to target the kidney. Course will be divided in three main sections:
a/ recent progress in the genetics and its application to the kidney disease (particularly the topics of epigenetics, micro-RNAs, GWAS, quality assurance will be discussed);
b/ molecular genetics, cell biology and pathogenesis of selected inherited kidney diseases (ADPKD, collagen IV nephropathies, uromodulin-associated kidney diseases);
c/ genetics and acquired kidney disease (diabetic nephropathy, IgAN, MGN, AAV).
The course is targeted to junior nephrologists, moderately advanced, internists and researchers, who are interested in the management of patients with these kind diseases. The course will be accompanied by the “Meet the expert” session to allow the participants to exchange knowledge in clinical practice with European leading nephrologists and interactive case-report session. Detail program is enclosed.
