Editorial issue 313

This first editorial of NDT-E after a great ERA-EDTA congress in Vienna starts with a JCI paper, of potential ultimate clinical relevance. Wang J et al indeed show that "Inhibition of SHP2 ameliorates the pathogenesis of systemic lupus erythematosus".
The next 4 papers were recently published in NDT. M Kerr  et al first report on !End-of-life care for people with chronic kidney disease: cause of death, place of death and hospital costs". Next  V. Krane V and C Wanner question "Should we aim for oral health to improve outcomes in chronic kidney disease?". Then N Ebert  et al report on "Prevalence of reduced kidney function and albuminuria in older adults: the Berlin Initiative Study". Finally, A.Lenglet A et al publish on the "Efficacy and safety of nicotinamide in haemodialysis patients: the NICOREN study.".
