Editorial issue 282

The first 3 papers of this issue are selected among the recently accepted ones in NDT. R. Coppo first reviews "The intestine-renal connection in IgA nephropathy". Next ,J. Jing  et al publish on "Prevalence and correlates of gout in a large cohort of patients with chronic kidney disease: the German Chronic Kidney Disease (GCKD) study". M. Zacchia  and G. Capasso  discuss "The importance of uromodulin as regulator of salt reabsorption along the thick ascending limb".

The fourth paper , published  in Clin Kidney J(CKJ) by JA. Kraut and I. Kurt deals with the "Treatment of acute non-anion gap metabolic acidosis", a timely review on a controversial topic.. Finally the fifth paper, is from Kidney Int . YC. Chen et al, publish  that "A nationwide cohort study suggests chronic hepatitis B virus infection increases the risk of end-stage renal disease among patients in Taiwan".


CME lectures   
All 4 lectures from the recent ERA-EDTA Amsterdam congress deal with some aspects of kidney TP. Pr Jacques Bernheim (Kfar Saba, Israel) reviews "Ethical principles governing fair organ allocation" Pr Frans Claas (Leiden, Netherlands) argues that "Immunological compatibility should be the prime factor in allocating organs".,  Pr Uwe Heemann (Munich, Germany) on the contrary argues that "Total waiting time and cold ischemia time should be the prime factor in allocating organs" Finally, Pr Claudio Ponticelli (Milan, Italy) reviews "How to appropriately select elderly transplantation candidates".
