Short Description
Chronic kidney disease is associated with increased cardiovascular and all-cause mortality. Among the reasons for this excess mortality we find an accelerated aging phenotype. There is evidence that uremic toxins may contribute to accelerated aging either through direct actions on target organs or through decreased expression of anti-aging molecules such as Klotho.
The course will provide a comprehensive review of the current status of chronic kidney disease mortality and the contribution of diverse toxins and molecules to the accelerated aging phenotype
