RAPIDLY PROGRESSIVE RENAL FAILURE IN AN ELDERLY PATIENT

Six blood culture samples were negative.

Serum and urine electrophoresis did not show monoclonal components; Kappa/lambda ratio was normal. Bence Jones proteinuria was absent.

Aptoglobin and LDH were within the normal range and schistocytes were absent.

FAN, antiDNA antibodies were negative. C3, C4 were within the normal range. Cryoglobulins were absent. pANCA was positive (90 UI/ml; normal values < 6 UI/ml); cANCA were negative.
