EUROPEAN TRAINING CENTRES

Hannover

Hannover, formerly residence of kings, is now the City of Trade Fairs and was the venue of the EXPO 2000. During the time of the Expo, the city welcomed some 20 million visitors from all over the world. The capital of Germany’s province Lower Saxony, Hannover is situated in the centre of Germany with easy train and flight connections, both domestic and abroad. The Deister and Harz mountains, both a short ride by car or train from Hannover, offer excellent opportunities for walking and climbing and a broad range of other tourist activities. The city of Hannover houses a University and a Medical School, both of which have gained international reputation. Despite its industrial background and size with some 500.000 inhabitants, Hannover has a remarkable range of gardens and parks, both within the city and in its vicinity. Historically, there are strong ties with Britain, owing to the union of Hannover with the British crown in the 18th century. Accordingly, the Royal Gardens of Herrenhausen are the destination for many tourists each year.
