In 155 consecutive diabetic nephropathy transplant candidates approximately half of the patients had significant coronary artery stenoses with age being the only risk factor for significant, and half of these underwent revascularization. Importantly most patients with CAS did not have symptoms of myocardial ischemia indicating the need for invasive evaluation of these patients before transplantation. |
