Bone morphogenetic protein 7 (BMP-7) is an essential renal morphogen that maintains renal tubular differentiation in the adult and is downregulated in renal failure. It was hypothesized that BMP-7 could be an effective treatment of vascular calcification ESRD. In the LDL receptor null mice (a model of atherosclerosis) BMP-7 seems to an useful treatment of vascular calcification. |
